Curt 5th Wheel Hitch Options for 2007 Silverado Classic

Hello my question is Im looking for a new 5th wheel hitch I have a Reese 20k that Ive owned for some time an had no issues what so ever I recently purchased a new 5th wheel thats I think might need a 24k hitch my old trailer was 12000 new trailer is 18000 dry of course so we full time an Im thinking gross 20 to 21000 Ive heard that Curt has had issues with the jaws not locking correctly has anyone had any issues Id sure hate to my new rig. Only the 3500-series of the 2007 Chevy trucks has a towing capacity up at the 20K+ range you need for a new trailer that weighs 18K dry. Towing capacities vary based on engine, rear axle ratio, cab style, bed length, etc. The online Chevrolet towing guide notes the maximum 5th wheel towing capacity for a 3500 HD with 6.6L Duramax as 23,000-lbs.

You'll definitely want to confirm that your specific truck has the capacity (and some extra safety margin too) for towing a loaded trailer of 20,000 to 21,000-lbs. Based on your photo it appears you have a crew cab with 6-1/2-foot bed so a slider type hitch will be called for unless you have a Sidewinder pivoting pin box on the trailer.
