The most important factor to consider when picking out a weight distribution system is the total tongue weight of your towing setup. This number includes both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer, along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Ford F-250. Many systems include an adjustable shank, or one can simply be added, so that you can tow your trailer level with the 6-inch lift on your truck.

The most accurate method for determining your trailer's loaded tongue weight is with a scale like the etrailer # 99044. In the meantime, though, we can make a quick estimate using the 9,000-pound total trailer weight that you mentioned. If this is its loaded weight, as if its ready to go on a trip, we can estimate that its loaded tongue weight will be around 900 to 1,350 pounds. This is because a trailer's tongue weight should be between 10 to 15 percent of its total weight.
