Recommended Front Mounted Trailer Hitch for 2018 Thor Freedom Elite on 2017 Ford E-350 Chassis

Question:

I purchased ft mount receiver #65053. There is a reference for an 8mm wrench. What is that for? and in the instructions, step #3 says to enlarge forward hole on vehicle with half inch drill bit. I have to drill out all 4 holes correct? and lastly, does the bumper have to come off, or do I leave it hanging a little?

The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65053 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Ford E-350 Chassis. The hitch has a trailer weight capacity of 5,000 lbs so you will have no issues with your trailer weight. I recommend using the same ball mount you use to pull the trailer to make it easy. A front mounted hitch does make maneuvering a trailer much easier, so this will be a good solution for you.

I reached out to my tech contact and he said the 8mm wrench is a misprint in their instructions on the # 65052 hitch and they are updating it. In step 3, you will need to make sure all the holes are able to accept the 1/2 inch hardware. If the 1/2 inch bolt doesn't go through without enlarging the hole, then you will need to enlarge it for the hardware to fit through. The bumper does not need to come completely off, you just need to make sure it remains secure so you can work under it safely.
