Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring Harness for 2008 Ford F-150 with Factory Tow Package
Question:
Considering the Tekonsha P3 brake controller for my 2008 F150 after watching your YouTube video on the P2. I have the HD tow package and it didnt come with the factory brake controller. I found said plug under the dash and also the relay slot in the fuse box, its relay R05. the manual says its for the trailer battery charge, I would assume thats what this circuit does is charge the battery that the trailer uses for its brakes??

That fuse allows for 12V power to charge the trailer battery. The trailer breakaway battery will use that circuit, but I believe it also allows for the 12V needed for your trailer brake controller power.
The Tekonsha P3 is a very nice brake controller that allows for proportional braking, meaning the same timing and pressure you hit your brake pedal are transferred to your trailer brakes. The P3 allows the LCD screen that will display diagnostics and errors without needing to decipher alpha numeric codes and LEDs. It is an extremely reliable controller that is a customer favorite.
Since you have the tow package, you can use wiring harness # 3035-P for the easy installation.
