Installation of T-One Wiring Harness Splicing Into Aux 12V Connector at Center Console

Question:

Is there any reason I cant draw power from the aux 12volt connector cigarette lighter at the center console? Male aux power connectors are readily available. The fuse in the main panel can easily be sized down to match the harness rating.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118422 is recommended to be installed to draw power directly from the battery. Splicing into your 12V Aux will work as long as you have the fuse rating properly accounted for as you referenced and as long as you isolate the 12V Aux so when you use it to charge your phone, etc, doesn't steal power from the trailer connector.

We don't recommend installing in this way. You need the 12V power to be correct so you don't have the power module fail or overload your vehicle's electrical system.
