Recommended Replacement Vent Cover for Fan-Tastic Vent on RV

Question:

I had the guy at the RV shop in Reedsport, Oregon, install a Fantastic fan. This guy owns an RV shop and posed as a pro. Not. He installed the Camco vent coverthe one you show here at 8.5 high, over the fan. But that cover was never designed for the Fantastic fan The original style of Fantastic fan they have been making for many years. So, the fan hatch cover will open only about 60 of the way. It is too small for the popular Fantastic fan. Also, Camco uses a plastic screen on the removable louvers which is air flow inefficient because it is not fine metal mesh but instead the plastic mesh is larger in order to compensate for the weakness of the plastic mesh vs. the stronger wire screen. I see that all your reviews rate this Camco cover as tops. I am sorry, but I regard total praise reviews as falsified. It makes me think, on my first visit to your site, that you folks are less than honest.

The Camco vent cover is not intended to work with the Fan-Tastic vents, so I am sorry that you had someone install an inefficient and less than ideal product saying they were compatible. You should have had the Fan-Tastic Vent Ultra Breeze Trailer Roof Vent Cover # DMC38FRinstalled instead. It comes in the black mentioned as well as white # FVU1500WH. This cover does not use a screen but instead utilizes the screen of your vent itself. Obviously, the cover needs to be installed in the proper direction to function correctly with your vent so I hope he installed the vent with the hinge facing the front of your trailer.

Let me know if you have further questions. The Camco # CAM40453 has dimensions that are quite different at 18-1/2" long x 18" wide x 8-1/2" high when you compare them to the Fan-Tastic Vent cover. Camco products do work very well on their proper applications.
