Bypassing the OEM Brake Controller Signal Wiring on a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado
Question:
I have an 09 Silverado with factory trailer breakes that do not work dont know why brought it to shop and after 300$ they had no idea so Im guessing a bad connection somewhere. Will this break controller work or does it use the same wiring as the factory controller

To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 in your 2009 Chevrolet Silverado we would typically recommend that you use the same wiring that your factory brake controller used. However, since you believe that there is a problem with the wiring from the factory brake controller back to your 7-Way you want to use a slightly different installation tactic.
If you know that the only wire that is messed up is the one sending the brake signal to your 7-Way then you can simply run 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 from the Blue wire of the P3 to the pin in the 5 o'clock position on your 7-Way. This will completely bypass the wiring on your Silverado and should fix your problem. The rest of the wires on the P3 will be connected to the following functions:
White - Ground
Black - 12V Power
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
Let me know if any of your other wires are not functioning properly and I can let you know how to bypass those functions as well.
