Compatibility of Curt Weight Distribution System with 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe

Hello. We drive a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe XL / long wheelbase with the 3.3L V6 and a towing capacity of 5000lbs. We will be towing a 2006 Jayco 1007 model popup trailer with specs: GVWR 2300#, and Htich weight unloaded of 165#. We have a 30# propane tank and a droup 27 marine deep cycle battery on the front as well, so adding another 100# to tongue for that is feasible. In addition, cargo behind rear axle is probably about 100# at most as we load the coolers and heavy stuff as far forward as possible. We are interested in adding a WDH to this setup. We previously towed with a 2007 Honda Odyssey with AirLift airbags in the rear which made the rear sag minimal none and it towed amazingly. That isnt an option for this vehicle though. Im interested in a weight distributing hitch and a receiver for this 2015 Hyundai. I have come across the following, but dont know if its adjustable to a lower tongue weight. Item # 17300. Can you please advise? Also, we are interested in the Curt Class III receiver, Item #C13153. What are your thoughts on this one? Lastly, if there are any recommendations for other products to consider instead of the above, please let me know. Thanks

If you don't yet have a trailer hitch on your 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe, then I recommend you start with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13153. This custom fit hitch has a 2 inch receiver compatible with your weight distribution system.

The Curt Trunnion Style Weight Distribution System with Shank # 17300 you mentioned is able to handle any total tongue weights up to 600 lbs. That total tongue weight as you stated includes your loaded trailer tongue weight as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. To use this system you will simply adjust the chains for the weight you will be carrying.

You will also need a hitch ball for this application. For a 2 inch ball use # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball use # 19286.

You may want to consider the Curt Friction Sway Control for Weight Distribution Systems # 17200 which can be used with bracket # RP26003. This will give you friction sway control for your road trip and can be easily disconnected for backing up or complete removal when not in use.
