The hitches made for your 2007 Chevrolet Impala are the 1-1/4-inch Class II type, Draw-Tite # 36407 and Curt # C12252. Both offer the same weight capacity of 300-lbs tongue weight and both are no-drill bolt-on installations using included hardware. The Curt hitch is made here in the USA.
You will need to use a Class II-rated hitch bike rack; all such carriers appear on the linked page. Most bike racks, like the Swagman XTC # S64670, top out at a 35-lbs bike weight rating but we do have some that can handle heavier bikes like your older 40-lb Schwinn (mine was blue!).
If the bike does not have front fenders you can use the Kuat Transfer V2 platform carrier, part # KU74FR, which can handle 40-lb bikes.
If it does have a front fender then instead the Swagman Chinook # S64683, which can handle 45-lb bikes, is a better option since it grips the bike by its top frame tube. The Chinook includes locks for both the rack itself and for your loaded bike.
The linked article and videos will help you decide on the best rack fit for your particular bike.
