Fifth Wheel Installation Kit Recommendation for a 2000 Chevy Silverado Short Bed
Question:
Ive purchased a usedReese Kwik Slide hitch Part # 30051 out of a 2004 chevy with rails and brackets. Do not have instructions. Can this be put into a 2000 silverado short bed or will I need to purchase a kit? I have all the L brackets that were used on the 2004 as well as the spacers.

If the installation kit that was used to install the 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30051, was the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP30035, then it will fit in your 2000 Chevy Silverado short bed provided all of the parts are accounted for. The kit should be replaced if parts are worn or missing. I have included al ink to the installation details for this kit for you to view.
I would recommend going with a new kit any way. With a used kit, you will not really know of the condition of the parts or if there will be a problem. The universal kit also requires more drilling and takes an estimated 5 hours minimum to install.
Instead, take a look at Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP50064-58. This kit has an estimated installation time of 2-1/2 hours and there is much less drilling required. I have included a link to the installation details and a video installation for this kit as well.
