Positioning Drill To Install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24816 On 2008 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Sedan

Question:

I am attempting to install Draw-Tite part number 24816 onto my 2008 Mazda 3 Grand Touring 4-door sedan. I was able to drill the two holes on the bumper, but I cant seem to fit my drill into the area necessary to drill the holes in the bumper brackets on the sides. My drill is about 8 inches from the back of the drill to the front of the chuck and the drill bit adds about 4 inches onto that. The drill used in the installation video on your site http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Mazda/3/2008/60201.html?vehicleid=2008300103 looks similar to mine, but the video was for a 5-door hatchback rather than the 4-door, so perhaps there is more room with that model. Do I need to buy a right angle drill? What type of drill and drill bit do you use for the 4-door grand touring model? Thanks!

You may just need to use a smaller size drill or a drill that has a straight handle with a pivoting head. Then you will also need a high-quality carbide drill bit.

I have linked an FAQ on trailer hitch installation tips.
