Handle Nut Installation for Curt Trailer Hitch # 13217 on a 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan
Question:
Im stuck trying to install the third nut/bolt the handle nut on the driver side mounting bracket for the 13217 receiver hitch. How do you fish that handle nut in there? The frame rail is exposed in the drawing on the instructions but it is covered by the muffler heat shield on my 2002 eurovan weekender. Help!

Expert Reply:
I spoke with my contact at Curt about the installation of Trailer Hitch, # 13217, on a 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan. He stated that the only way to get the handle nut into position is to remove the heat shield. Once the handle nut is in position and the hitch is installed you should be able to re-install the shield.
