Troubleshooting LED Display On Curt Triflex Brake Controller Continually Flashing In Cold Weather

Question:

My brake controller display will continually flash the output like it does when I push the brakes in my truck when I am not pushing the brakes and am not towing anything. It only does this when it is extremely cold out and seems to stop once it warms up, but I want to make sure that this isnt an indication that something is wrong with the brake controller.

It sounds like your brake controller is catching a signal on the brake controller output wire in a different way when it is cold. This can be due to corrosion or even a little additional moisture in the connection.

The flashing LED display is not an indication of your Curt Triflex brake controller # C24VV going bad. If it were going bad, you would have that continue after the vehicle is warmed up as well. You can most likely solve the issue with a little sand paper or steel wool to clean the trailer connections and then use some dielectric grease # 11755 to keep moisture and debris out of your trailer connections. This will also help the flow of electricity to assist with proper function.

If this doesn't solve your issue, let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
