Does B and W Companion Slider for Ford Hitch Prep Have Height Clearance for Trailer Overhang

Question:

I will be purchasing my first 5th wheel RV and hitch soon and I am concerned about the clearance requirements for the sides of my truck and hitch. The height of the bed of my F350 is 21-1/2 inches. This BandW hitch states it will adjust 17-19. The Curt Q20 states it will adjust 17-21. Would it be better/safer regarding clearance for turns to get the Curt Q20 model or will the BandW Companion #BWRVK3370 be just as safe? Thank you.

There isn't quite enough info yet for your setup to know if you'd have issues with bed rail to fifth wheel overhang clearance. The pin box of the trailer is going to hang down quite a bit from the frame of the trailer it is attached to. That's why you don't need a trailer hitch that's taller than your bed rails. See attached pic.

For your 2017 Ford F-350 with a short bed the B and W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3370 would be the best option we have. This is basically the nicest fifth wheel hitch around that fits your truck so we know it will work well and will not cause clearance issues either.
