In the video you're referring to of the 2015 Ram 3500 we installed the Prodigy P3, part # 90195, simply because the customer wanted one. He wasn't happy with the performance of the factory integrated brake controller on his truck and he had previously used a P3 that he was happy with so he decided to install a P3 in this truck.

We do periodically see people who wish to install aftermarket controllers on trucks with factory controllers, although it's usually on older models than this one because older factory controllers are often not compatible with electric over hydraulic trailer brakes. However, that isn't the case with the 2015 Ram, nor was this customer using EOH brakes. He simply likes the P3 better, and according to our install manager who worked with this customer, was very happy after the install.

I've attached a help article that breaks down the process of installing an aftermarket controller on a 2010-2014 Ram that has a factory controller but the process is the same on newer models as well. You use the wiring adapter, part # 3024-P, to plug into the connector under the dash and install the P3 as normal. However, you need to take the truck to a Ram dealer to have the TIPM reconfigured to avoid having a permanent warning lamp that won't go away.
