Connecting the Blue Wire to a Brake Controller Installation on a 2016 Ford F-150
Question:
I have a 16 F-150 that I installed a Tekonsha brake control on. I purchased a Hopkins wiring kit 47185 to connect to the factory 4 plug. The Hopkins has a blue wire that is for a brake control. Do I need to connect the blue wire to the factory wire harness to get power to the brakes, or do I just connect the 4 plugs and ground? I know the purple is for reverse lights and the black is for 12 volt charging.

You'll just need some additional wire to connect up to the front end of the truck, available as part # 10-1-1. You'll use the wire in this bundle to connect the blue wire up to the blue wire on the brake controller to complete the circuit.
Some models do have a pre run blue wire and a pre run orange or red power wire, but they're a little hard to get to.
