Installing a 7-Way on 2017 Toyota Highlander

Question:

Do you have a video or any suggestions for wiring a 7 pin not 4 wiring harness on our 2017 Toyota Highlander? The 2013 example doesnt apply. Our big concern is how to go through the firewall from the engine compartment into the drivers side footwell.

There's quite a bit of variance in the 2013 and newer Toyota Highlanders due to a gradual "Facelift" that occured in the vehicles, culminating in the 2017 model year's complete change in appearance. One of those changes was the removal and restructuring of the driver's side wiring, making your installation a little different than it would be for a 2013 Toyota Highlander. Additionally, this feature occasionally appears in vehicles after 2014 that have the factory towing package.

I've included a video of our team installing on a 2014 Toyota Highlander that doesn't have a wiring through-grommet in the passenger floorboard and requires drilling through the firewall, creating your own wiring route for part # ETBC7 to be installed.

Notably, the 7-way installation requires already having a 4 way installed on your vehicle. I recommend Tekonsha's T-One Vehicle Harness, part # 118449 as a great 4 way if you don't already have one installed and your vehicle did not have the factory tow package. I've included a video of this kit being installed on a 2017 Toyota Highlander so you can see the process for yourself.
