Towing Capacity and Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Ford F-150

Question, what is a safe dry weight that I can get to on a fifth wheel for my 2018 Ford F150? I have the max tow on the dealer sticker of 12,700 trailer MAX Gross TRLR WT MAX TONGUE WT weight 5,489kg 549kg distributing 12,200lb 1,220lb weight 2,268kg 227kg 5,000lb 500lb FRONT GAWR: 3225lb REAR GAWR: 3,800lb GVWR: 6900lb tire: 245/70R17 110T i know that I would need to change these engine 3.5L, axle 3.55, L9 Combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 2147lbs

Since the sticker on the truck says you have a towing capacity of 12,700 lbs you really are fine as long as you keep the weight of the trailer and everything below that figure. I'd maybe look for trailers with a dry weight under 10k, but it really just depends on the needs you have for the trailer.

If you have a long bed truck you can use a stationary hitch like the Reese # RP30047 which has a 16k capacity and would work well. For a rail kit you'd then want a custom install kit like the part # RP56034-53 which is a confirmed fit. Custom install kit install in about half the time as a universal kit and minimize drilling.

Now if you have a 5-1/2 foot bed you'd want the Demco Hijacker 13k part # DM8550040 which will automatically slide back 22-1/2 inches as you make tight turns so that you have enough turning clearance.
