Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Ram 3500 Short bed With Rail Kit

Question:

I am ready for 5th wheel hitch recommendations. The RV empty is 18k and full is 21k, but who knows if I will every have something heavier. I have a 2018 3500 DRW short bed with 5th wheel prep as stated in below emails. I am in need of a sliding 5th wheel because of having a short bed and the clearance from the back of the cab(assumption). What is your recommendation for a sliding 5th wheel? I want the best and most weight rated. Multiple options are fine.

The 2018 Ram 3500 duallys have pretty high towing capacities. But from the research I did on your truck in order for you to have a higher capacity than 21k like you'd need you'll need to have a the Cummins diesel engine and at least the 3.73 gear ratio.

First option I'd recommend you consider is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide part # DM8550035. This has a 21k capacity and with the rail kit adapter # DM6099 will slide automatically as you make tight turns so that you don't have to ever get out of the vehicle. This would be what I would pick as the best option. Only other option I'd recommend you consider is the Curt Q24 part # C16546 if you need a higher capacity as it has a 24k capacity. It's the highest rated option we have for your truck. You'd need the adapter part # C16022 with this hitch as well.
