There are a number of parts you'll need in order to add electric trailer brakes to your 16-foot Casita. According to my research this trailer has an axle with a 3,500 lb capacity, though you'll want to double-check to make sure. You will need to ensure your trailer has a mounting flange such as # 4-35, which is for 2-3/8" round axles. If you do not have a hub and drum assembly already you will need that as well, and you can find the correct one by taking apart your current hub and looking at the bearing numbers, which should be stamped on the bearing themselves. For a 3,500 lb axle the # AKHD-545-35-K Hub and Drum Assembly would work if your inner bearing is # L68149, your outer bearing is # L44649 and your wheels have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. I've attached a help article for you which explains how you can measure to determine what bolt pattern you have. This hub and drum is compatible with 10" electric brake assemblies and I recommend using the self-adjusting Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA which install with mounting hardware # BRKH10B. An electric brake controller will also be necessary to install in your 2008 Toyota Highlander to control the brakes. To add this you will need to add the wiring and since you have the factory tow package the correct 4-way is harness # HM11141825. You will also need to add the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7, which will give you the remainder of the needed parts to install a brake controller.
