Replacement Electric Drum Brakes for a 2001 Kaufman Wedge Trailer with 7,000 Lb Axles
Question:
I have a 2001 Kaufman wedge and need a whole new brake setup. The drums are bad but I can’t find any. What do you recommend? It’s has 2 7k axles on it

As long as the 7,000 lb axles on your trailer use a 5 bolt brake mounting flange then I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-7-SA which are self-adjusting brakes that will not require adjustments after the initial setup (see video). They measure to be 12" in diameter by 2" wide. As long as your wheel size is between 14-1/2" and 16-1/2" then they will work well for you.
If you are also looking to replace the hub/rotor then I would need to know the bolt pattern of your wheels in addition to the bearing and seal numbers. If you cannot find the bearing/seal numbers stamped into the bearings/seals themselves then you will want to use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157.
I have attached our bolt pattern and trailer bearing help article for you as well.
