Lightweight Weight Distribution System Needed for Towing 3,800 lb Passport 195RB

Question:

2017 Silverado 1500 pulling a Passport 195RB. Trailer empty is ~3800 lbs. I currently have a Husky Centerline TS. Problem is that hitch is getting way too heavy to carry out and install. I set it up myself and it works OK but Im looking for something lighter and easier.

The Husky Center Line Weight Distribution (WD) systems, like part # HT32217, weigh in at about 100 lbs for the whole system.

A lighter option would be to go with a round bar system like the Reese Weight Distribution System # RP67509 which weighs just over 60 lbs. This system has a Tongue Weight (TW) TW of 400 lbs - 800 lbs and comes with a shank for a 2" hitch receiver. You will need to purchase a 2" hitch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # 19286 separately.

This system does not come with built-in sway control like the Husky Center Line does so if you would like to add sway control then you can use the Reese Dual Cam High-Performance Sway Control # RP26002.

Please keep in mind that you will want to choose a WD system with a TW range that the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your towing setup falls in the middle of. To find the TTW of your towing setup you will need to add the TW of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer along with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Keep in mind that a properly loaded trailer will have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of your trailer.

If your TTW doesn't fall in that 400 lbs - 800 lbs range of the Reese system # RP67509 just let me know what your TTW is and I can see what else we have available.
