How to Adjust the Tekonsha Voyager for 35 foot 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

Jon replied to my question but the unit that is in my truck has two nobs right and left. As facing the mounted unit there is level on the left side and gain on the right side. As I have no information on the unit I am not sure if I am working it properly or if the brakes are even doing there job properly. I also have no info as to what model the controller is as I purchased the truck with the unit in place. I havent pulled the unit except down my local road but I need to get a better idea of what I am doing with it. This is not my first unit so I do know what it should do but I have never used this unit before.

When you are setting up the braking power for the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 you want to start off by setting the power (power knob is on the side of the controller) to the 12 o'clock position. With your trailer and truck fully loaded go ahead and drive on dry level pavement at 25 mph and then apply the manual override slide knob (found on the front).

You can then adjust the power settings for this controller accordingly.

I am attaching a review video for the Tekonsha Voyager as well as a link to the installation instructions that you can reference for more information.

The instructions that I mentioned above relate to choosing the correct power setting for your personal preference. This pertains to the power knob on the right side. The level knob on the left side has to do with fine tuning how you want your brake controller to work. In the "A" position it will have more of a delay, the "B" position means it will operate normally, while the "C" position will make your brake controller act more aggressive. I have attached a few photos from the instructions to demonstrate this. If you look at the linked instructions for the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 you will want to read the sections titled "Adjusting the Power to the Trailer Brakes" and "Fine Tuning" for detailed instructions on how to operate your brake controller.
