Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch to Pull Trailer with MORryde Orbital Pin Box with 2016 F-250 6-3/4 Bed

Getting ready to order a 37 foot Eagle HT 5th wheel and towing with a 2016 F250 , 6 foot 9 inch bed, with factory 5th wheel/gooseneck setup. The Morryde Orbital pin box is a option I considered on the camper and would like a lightweight hitch for the truck something like the Ultimate Anderson which I understand I cant use with the Morryde as Ill need to remove the hitch often and dont want the heavy weight. Should I forget the Morryde and go with the Anderson or what? Would really appreciate your suggestions.

Since your 2016 Ford F-250 has the shorter 6-3/4 foot bed we would typically recommend going with a sliding 5th wheel hitch to allow you to make tight turns without your trailer hitting the cab of your truck. If you went with the MORryde Orbital Pin Box, then that would move the pivot point of your setup further back and allow you to use a stationary hitch instead of a slider (which is always heavier).

Using the Andersen Ultimate Connection Adapter # AM3200 would be a great lightweight option, except in the matter of a rotating turret (like what the MORryde Orbital Pin Box uses). If you used an adapter that connected to a gooseneck hitch ball then you would have 2 rotating points which would make your trailer unpredictable and dangerous.

What I recommend doing is going with the MORryde Orbital Pin Box so that you can use a lighter 5th wheel hitch as the stationary options are lighter than the sliders.

I contacted MORryde about any restrictions for a stationary 5th wheel hitch and they didn't indicate that there was one. Since that is the case I highly recommend going with the Reese M5 Series # RP30921. This hitch is rated for 20,000lbs. It has a shipping weight of only 154lbs which makes it one of the lighter stationary hitches that we carry.
