Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 2014 Wildwood 27RKSS with 800 Lbs Tongue Weight
Question:
Pulling 2014 Wildwood 27RKSS, 33foot long, dry wt.6355# with advertised hitch wt. of 720#. Loading behind rear axle of tow vehicle is about 80#. Tow vehicle is 2007 Dodge 2500 Turbo Diesel. Current hitch system is Reese trunnion with sway bar which is woefully deficent in heavy wind or passing 18 wheelers because of the length of the trailer. Will the Curt 17500 solve the problem? Thanks for your response.

As you may already know, a weight distribution system will need to be based off of the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer in addition to any weight stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. An easy way to find your total tongue weight (TTW) would be to use a scale like part # e99044.
When choosing a weight distribution system, you will want your TTW to fall in the middle of the weight distributions weight capacity. For example, the ideal weight distribution system for a total tongue weight of 600 lbs is one that is rated for 400-800 lbs of tongue weight.
Since you have identified your trailer and tow vehicle as having a TTW of 800 lbs then the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution part # C17500 would be the right system for you. It is also a very effective system as the 4-point sway control works to prevent sway from happening in addition to reducing sway as it occurs.
I have attached a review/installation video of the above system in addition to a few weight distribution help articles you may find useful.
