Is the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter Compatible with a Friction Sway System?
Question:
Can I install a Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter #RP58393 to just add sway control to my trailer? I am not looking to add a WD system as I am already running a Shocker Air Bag Hitch, only looking to add sway control. Thanks

You cannot use the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems # RP58393 along with the friction sway control like # 83660 according to my tech contract at Reese. You won't have the proper angles for it to function correctly. He said your best option for sway control is to use that adapter and the Stedi-Flex weight distribution system like # RP66558 appropriate for your tongue weight.
Using a weight distribution system with the pole tongue adapter is really the only way to get the sway control on a strait tongue trailer. I know this means losing the air bag suspension at your hitch, so you may then want to consider the air bags on your vehicle axle to assist. If you want to go this route, let me know your vehicle year/make/model and your loaded trailer tongue weight and I can give you specific recommendations.
