Rooftop Cargo Solution for 2003 Acura MDX with Factory Roof Rack

Question:

Please help...my factory installed crossbars are between 20 and 30 inches apart and according to acura there is no adjustability. The side rail that the crossbars mount to are flush with the roof. I need rooftop storage. The quest bag TH868 is 36 inches wide so it doesnt fit between my cross bars. What are my options for rooftop storage. I dont want to purchase a new roof rack. I transport my kayaks just fine with my Thule accessories that fit my crossbars. Help?? and thanks..

Other than going with a different cargo bag or box, and given the limited adjustment options of your existing roof rack and the dimensions of the bag you are wishing to use, your most economical solution would be to use a Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, part # C18115.

The basket measures 41 x 37 inches, and would easily accommodate your Thule Cargo Bag. It would also get the bag up off the roof, so it will not damage the finish.
