Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2005 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot bed

Question:

Hi I am trying to see if it is possible to tow a 5th wheel trailer with my Father-In-Laws 5th wheel. I have a 2005 F-15 SuperCab 4x4 shortbed 5.5 5.4L Engine, 3.37 Rear Axle ratio, Maximum Trailer weight 7300 His Trailer is 25long 7.7inch wide The Towing arm sticks out 8 inches in front of the trailer. He is unsure about the weight. My questions are is it posible for my Truck to tow a 5th wheel. And if so what hitch should I purchase.

Trucks with 5-1/2 foot beds are more challenging to tow fifth wheel trailers with since the bed is so short it makes it hard to have the needed turning clearance. Probably the easiest route to go would be with the one slider hitch we offer that has enough clearance for that short of a bed, the Demco Hijacker 13k part # DM8550040. Unlike most slider fifth wheel hitches this one slides back 22-1/2 inches which will allow you the turning clearance needed.

Then for a rail kit to allow the hitch to install in your truck bed you'd want the part # RP50081-58 which is confirmed to fit. This is a custom install rail kit which means it will install in about half the time as a universal kit and will minimize driling.
