Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring Kit for 2003 Toytota Tacoma with 4-Way Flat Trailer Wiring
Question:
I recently bought an off-road trailer with Timbren 3500HD Axle-Less Trailer Suspension With 4inch Lift. The trailer also has a 7-pole trailer connector. My current vehicle, a 2003 Toyota Tacoma, only has a 4-pole connector on the vehicle. Can you recommend a brake controller , a 7-pole connector on the vehicle end, and the necessary wiring kit. Thank you!

For your 2003 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller that will apply the brakes on your trailer at the same time and with the same amount of intensity as you hit the brake pedal in your truck. This controller has a really nice LCD screen to show you what you need to know and has easy to use preset options as well for boost.
Because you have a 4-way, all you will need to add to get your 7-way and the brake controller functions is the Universal Brake Controller Wiring kit # ETBC7. This will give you the wiring, the connectors, the trailer connector, and the circuit breakers needed to install the brake controller and utilize your current 4-way flat wiring. I've attached a couple videos to assist.
This combination will work well with your trailer with the Timbren Axle-Less System.
