Trailer Hitch for a 2009 Honda Accord Sedan and a Bike Rack

Question:

I like the bike wing for 2 bikes, but I have been thinking of carrying 3 bikes. What would you suggest for the same vehicle?

For your 2009 Honda Accord sedan I recommend Curt trailer hitch # C11496. With the other hitch options there is an additional part you would need to be able to use a bike rack but not with this hitch.

This and all of the hitches for your Accord are Class I hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers. Class I trailer hitches are rated for a maximum of 2 bikes because it cannot handle additional weight that is further away from the receiver. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks for you. I like the Curt # C18085 because it is compatible with many bike styles. I have linked videos of the hitch and bike rack for you.

If you need to carry more that just 2 bikes let me know how many and I can find a solution for you.

Since the trailer hitches for your Accord are Class I hitches that limits them to 2 bikes maximum. The problem isn't the weight but how far the weight is from the hitch. A third bike is too far away and will put too much stress on the hitch. But not to worry because there is still a way to carry 3 bikes. You can use a trunk mount rack such as the super sweet Thule Raceway Pro # TH9002PRO. This is pretty much the top of the line with all the bells and whistles including the ability to lock the rack to the vehicle and the bikes to the rack. It is very easy to use. I had an older version of this rack and it was amazing. The great thing about a trunk mount rack is that you won't have to buy a trailer hitch so you can put those dollars into getting an awesome rack like this. There are other 3-bike trunk mount options that will fit your Accord. I have included a link to them for you.
