Replacement Lift Brackets for Fastway e2 Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution System FA92-00-0800
Question:
I have a Fastway E2 equalizer hitch Model #92-00-0800. When I sold my trailer I mistakenly left the E2 frame brackets on it. The replacements from Fastway are absurdly expensive! Can I use the Curt replacement frame brackets #C17508 as replacements? Their advertised weight capacity is certainly high enough.

Expert Reply:
Many parts of weight distribution systems like those from Fastway and Curt can appear quite similar but we cannot recommend mixing parts from different makers. A shank or hitch ball? Sure. But even with a matching weight rating this practice, though sometimes tempting for cost reasons, means the actual setup will not have been thoroughly tested. From a risk standpoint it is a bad deal to use together parts from different systems.
The correct part to use for system # FA92-00-0800 is # EQ95-01-5600. These actually cost less than the Curt part # C17508.
