Roof Rack Kit for a 2016 Ford Edge SEL

Question:

I have a luggage carrier that attaches to crossbars. However, I just purchased a 2016 Ford Edge SEL and this vehicle has no rails or crossbars. Do you have products that would allow me to utilize my luggage carrier on the Ford Edge? I would assume I need some kind of rails, followed by crossbars between those rail... or are there crossbars available without the need for rails? Please provide the recommended product numbers if something is available. Also, if these products exist, are they installable myself, or does the installation have to be done by the dealer or other shop?

There are roof racks available for 2016 Ford Edges without rails, and they can be installed at home without any special tools.

I recommend Yakima's JetStream bars, which come as a kit that consists of:

Yakima JetStream Crossbars, 50 Inches part # Y00425
Yakima BaseLine Towers, part # Y28TR
Yakima BaseClip #102, part # Y06102
Yakima BaseClip #139, part # Y06139

Make sure to order both BaseClip #102 and BaseClip #139 as they are two separate kits, one for the front and one for the rear. The kit will also work on versions with or without the glass roof.

You won't be able to use the glass roof or moon roof on your vehicle with the roof rack installed.

This kit is extremely easy to install and will use clamps to install onto the roof of your vehicle. The Yakima JetStream bars can be tilted to create a level plane for your cargo carrier, giving overall better aerodynamic performance and reducing noise.

The push-in gasket in the channel of the bars is also helpful, as rather than cutting the gasket, you simply install channel mount accessories directly over this gasket. This gives a custom fit for each accessory, reducing their noise.
