Equal-I-Zer Weight Distribution Recommendation for 800 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

I am shopping for a weight distribution / sway control for my new travel trailer. Trailer is 5500 Lbs empty, tongue weight 620 Lbs. gross total weight is 7200 Lbs, so I figure total tongue weight 900 to 1000 Lbs. I am not sure what system I should . I dont like the one with the chains. I like the trunnion 4 points system dont mind paying little more. I know I cannot too much heavy duty as it might not ride well. so what is a good balance system for my trailer weight? the truck is Toyota Tundra V8 5.7L . 4x4 . tow capacity of about 9500 Lbs. payload... not sure. thanks much for your help.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

The Equal-i-Zer kits are considered by many to be the best around and since they don't use chains they would be just what you'd want. The part # EQ37100ET would be perfect as it has a tongue weight range of between 600 and 1,000 lbs just like what you'd need. This has the 4 point sway control as well.

To install the ball you'll need a thin walled socket like part # ALL643216 as well.
