How to Select Replacement 6-on-5-1/2 Hubs for 1965 Airstream Safari Travel Trailer

Question:

Hi, I need to replace the hubs on my trailer. I know it is not the original axle but short of taking everything apart in the snow, what information would I need to provide to make sure I get the right one? The rims are 15 inch and the hub is a 6 bolt/5 1/2 inch pattern. Thanks !!!

You came to the right place; we can help you find correct replacement hub/drums for your 1965 Airstream Safari.

Since the trailer no longer has the original axle/spindles the surest way to find correct hubs is to pull one off the trailer and remove its bearings. This is the most reliable way to select a hub with the correct weight rating and that will fit on your existing spindles. Pull one hub, remove the inner and outer bearings and wipe them clean so you can note their part numbers. The linked photo will show you the usual placement and appearance of those reference numbers.

Now just click on the linked hub page and select your inner and outer bearing numbers. You will then see only the 6-on-5-1/2 hubs that will fit your spindles. If your spindles are the EZ-Lube type with grease zerk fittings be sure to select an EZ-Lube hub/drum such as # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. This particular 12 x 2-inch hub/drum works on axles rated from 5200-lbs up to 6000-lbs.
