The wiring on your truck combines the stop and turn light signals since that is how trailers are usually set up. Trailer wiring has these two different signals combined into the same circuit, one for the left side of the trailer and one for the right.

Since you want to have a stop light signal by itself to connect it to a truck cap 3rd brake light you'll need to use a tail light converter such as Tow Ready # 118158 or Curt # C56196 to separate out the stop light signal. This way the cap brake light will not blink along with your turn signals. The red output wire on these items delivers a brake-light-only signal for the 3rd brake light.
