Charging a Trailer Battery From Vehicle Battery

Question:

Hi, I want to use a separate 12v battery in my Haulmark Edge trailer to power the lights and run my small winch when not attached to the tow vehicle. Am I just better off with a second junction box for non-towing needs, or can I share the juice somehow. Would be nice to charge the trailer battery when attached to the car kind of like the breakaway switch battery thanks

You could power your trailer's 12V battery when attached to your 2007 Nissan Titan simply by running # 10-1-1 wire from the 12V accessory circuit of your trailer connector to the positive post of the trailer battery. This will provide your trailer battery with a maintenance charge

The winch should have a way to connect directly to the battery, and for the lights you can use the the aforementioned wire as well as butt connectors # 05732-2 to wire the lights to the trailer's positive terminal.
