On your 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with factory 4-way, you will want the Universal Brake Controller kit # ETBC7. This will give you the 7-way connector you are seeking as well as the circuit breakers, wiring connections, and wire needed to upgrade. You can either completely hard wire this system or utilize the factory wiring in your truck that only runs to the driver's side wheel well.
If you choose to use the factory wiring, then you can use the brake controller wiring harness # 3020-P because you have the factory 4-way.
Whether you choose to use the factory wiring or hardwire your controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 which is the most popular due to the LCD screen and no need for code deciphering. It has presets that are easy to use as well.
