Parts Needed to Change Hydraulic Drum Brakes to Hydraulic Disc Brakes on a Pacific Boat Trailer
Question:
I have a Pacific boat trailer, mode 21TW4-5 that is equipped with 2500lb axles with 10 inch drum brakes. Only one axle has brakes. The wheels are 14inch on 5 x 4 1/2 bolt pattern. I want to change the one axle from drum to disk brakes. The kits I see on your site are either 2000lbs or 3000lbs, what kit would you recommend. I will be removing the check valve from the actuator to get the needed pressure.

It sounds like you already have a hydraulic drum brake system on your Pacific boat trailer. Since that is the case, switching over to hydraulic disc brakes will be fairly easy.
The most ideal solution would be to put brakes on both axles, but since you are only putting them on one axle it would be best to go with the higher rating. When filtering through our site it looks like the best option would be a hub/rotor combination that is rated for 3,500 lb axles. Since you will be replacing the hub and drum on your axle you will need to choose a hub/rotor option that is compatible with your spindle. You can do this by checking the numbers on your inner and outer bearings as well as your grease seal to make sure they are the same as your new brakes.
All of our disc brakes come with hubs that use a # L68149 Inner Bearing, a # L44649 Outer Bearing, and a # 58846 Grease Seal with an ID of 1.719" and a 2.565" OD. This should be compatible with your current spindle but you will want to check just to make sure.
Out of our available selection the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR35D is the most popular and is what I recommend going with. It features a dacromet finish which is the best corrosion-resistant finish out there for boat trailers.
I have attached a review video for you to check out as well.
