Alternative Lock to Secure Kuat Transfer to a Trailer Hitch

Question:

Advantage Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4inch Hitches Will this hitch lock work with the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Rack on 1 1/4 hitch? Rack comes with threaded pin but security lock was cheap and did not work well.

Bike rack manufacturers try to thread their pins and locks as uniquely as they can in order to make sure you use their product. The Advantage Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # HE6033 has not been tested with the Kuat Transfer bike racks but it is unlikely to fit.

What you can do instead of using a hitch lock is to use a cable lock such as # TH538XT to secure the rack to the safety chain loops on the hitch. The benefit is that the cable lock can be used for other things whereas a hitch lock is pretty much a one-trick pony.
