According to the owner's manual of your 2017 Ford Edge the vehicle can be flat towed with a 2.7L V6 EcoBoost, though are a number of parts you will need in order to do this, starting with compatible base plates. The ones you need will depend on the model of your Edge; I recommend the Blue Ox # BX2667 if you have either the SE, SEL or Titanium model of Edge. If you have a Sport model, the base plates you need are going to depend on whether or not you have Active Cruise Control. Roadmaster EZ4 # RM-524448-4 is for models with that feature while the Roadmaster EZ4 # RM-524444-5 is for models without Active Cruise Control.
Your tow bar will need to be compatible with your base plate kit, and if you get the Blue Ox tow bar I recommend going with the Blue Ox Acclaim # # BX4330 because of how easy the tow bar is to connect to the base plates due to its self-aligning design and the fact that it comes with safety chains. If you have the Roadmaster base plates I recommend going with the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 as it also has a self-aligning design as well as long arms that make it easier to maneuver when towing; you will also need safety chains # RM-643 with this tow bar.
For wiring kit that will allow your Edge's lights to function while being towed you can use the Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK. The Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 will also be required for use with your Edge so the battery won't drain.
A supplemental braking system is a requirement in most states and I highly recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play # SM99251 for this. This is a proportional braking system which is a one-time install which you can leave in so you'll never have to activate or deactivate it. You will need to use Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751475 along with your supplemental braking system.
Finally, it is likely you will need a high-low adapter such as # RM-076 to keep your Edge level with your tow vehicle. The adapter you need is going to depend on some measurements you'll need to take. I have added a link to a help article on high-low adapters which explains the measurements you'll need, as well as a link to our page with our selection of adapters. I've also attached links to video reviews of the other aforementioned parts for you to take a look at.
