How to Install Boat Keel Rollers When Replacing V Bunks on Trailer  

Question:

i have v bunks on my trailer in the front right behind the winch about a 1/4 way back i want to put a roller therewhat size roller do i need and what bracket.

It looks like you are on the right track. I would use the Universal Roller Brackets, # MBSPB, that you mentioned along with a 8 inch Long Keel Roller, # DL21712, a 5/8 inch Steel Shaft, and two pal nuts # CE10801.

All of this is dependent on your trailer having and 8 inch area that the brackets can be installed in and adjusted for the roller to contact the keel of the boat. If you would like to send photos of the boat trailer, I would be glad to make a more specific recommendation.

Etrailer - I need to replace my keel roller. Mine is split. I see that you offer an 8 roller, but the old one is more like 7.5 - Is your roller exactly 8 or is it for an 8 bracket? I need to order one, but not sure if it will fit?? Thank you - Paul

The end to end length (including bushings) of the Dutton-Lainson # DL21712 isn't quite 8", but it's close - probably closer to around 7-3/4". As long as you have the shaft space available though, it will still work to replace your 7-1/2" unit.
