Tips for Finding Reverse Light Circuit for 5-Way Wiring on 2017 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I need to connect the backup light circuit on my 2017 Toyota Highlander to the blue wire on a 5 pin flat connector. Any tips on the easiest way to tap into the circuit in the car? Do I have to the headliner or can I pop the rubber tube thing out and get to it that way? And then how do I route the wire down to the well under the floor under where the tools are?

Expert Reply:
I'd try to find it near the rear of the vehicle where it feeds into the reverse lights since that's nearest where you'd have a trailer connector. Try to find the wires that run to the reverse light sockets of the taillights and test them with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 for voltage when the brakes are applied.
