Tire Chain Options for a 2013 Ford Flex with Standard Tire Sizes
Question:
Hi, my vehicle manual states not to use chains due to the minimal clearance I presume. However, as have moved to an area where chains for traction are absolutely needed for a short distance to exit my residence. Can you offer any suggestions or recommendations? Thank you in advance!

You are correct in that the owners manuel for your 2013 Ford Flex states to not use tire chains due to minimal wheel well clearance. As you mentioned, certain states and conditions require the use of tire chains therefore the choice will ultimately be up to you.
The correct tire chains for your 2013 Ford Flex will depend on which tire size you have. I recommend taking a look at the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains part # TH01571245 for 235/60-17 tires, part # TH01571247 for 235/60-18 tires, or part # TH01571250 for 235/55-19 tires. The Konig tire chains have d-shaped links which provided excellent traction in both snow and ice. The chains have integrated tensioners which ensures a snug and secure fit on your vehicle's tires. I have attached a review and installation video of these tire chains for you to take a look at.
For 255/45-20 tires, I recommend taking a look at the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains part # TH02230K66 which are both easy to install and only seat on the middle of the tire so they will be ideal for this larger size tire.
If you have a different tire size on your Flex please let me know what that size is and I would be glad to offer additional recommendations for you.
