How to Select the Correct Rise or Drop for a Euro Style Drawbar on 2017 Subaru Outback

Question:

I have a 2017 Subaru Outback with a factory hitch. The top of the 1.25 inch factory hitch is 15 inch off of the ground. The top of my trailer coupler is 20 inch off of the ground. My trailer uses a 2 inch ball. Id like to buy a euro style drawbar. What model do I need? This should be very easy to figure out but all of your measurements give top of hitch to beginning of curved section dimensions. Which is irrelevant for height measurements. It would be useful for length though.

Thank you for the dimensions; you correctly measured from the ground to the top of the hitch on your 2017 Subaru Outback, though the other measurement is from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. Assuming your coupler is roughly 2 inches tall, from the ground to the bottom of the coupler would be approximately 18 inches. Since the top of your hitch is 15 inches, you need a drawbar that gives you about 3 inches of rise.

For Euro Style drawbars rise is measured to the beginning of the curved section, as you referenced, and the length is measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball. We have a pair of Euro Style drawbars that would work for you depending on the length you need; each has a 2 inch ball, gives you 3-1/8 inches of rise and has a 3,500 lb capacity. The only difference is that Curt # C45562 is 9-3/4 inches long while Curt # C45592 is 11-1/4 inches long.

I've added links to video reviews of each drawbar for you to take a look at as well.
