Recommendation for Gaining Trailer Height When Axles Have Been Flipped

Question:

My Stock 2014 Ram 3500 4x4 is too tall for my tandem axle 5th wheel. I need 3-4 inchs of height to get is towing level behind the truck. I checked the trailer axles, they are already flipped. I want to go the safest route. So Im thinking New stronger springs with a higher arch to give me 3inchs and change my tires from 235/80/16s to 235/85/16s for additional height. I have thought of adding blocks between current springs or changing the hangers, but I am double towing with this trailer, so the safest and strongest route is what I am wanting to consider... Your thoughts and recommendations?

With your axles already flipped, the changing out of your hangers is the best option to gain 3-4 inches. I don't recommend changing the springs for higher arch as it will affect your suspension too much and give you a rigid ride. Tires alone won't give you the difference you need, but may help as long as you have the clearance.

My recommendation is to change your hangers. Then if you use the Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # TTWPRG235R16 you will have a 31.73 inch diameter instead of the 30.79 diameter of the 235/80R16 tires. So changing will give you an additional inch of height.
