Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75761 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 BMW X1 28i with moonroof. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver tube opening. The hitch is rated at 3,500 lbs gross trailer weight (GTW) and 400 lbs tongue weight (TW) though you will need to verify the TW and GTW of your vehicle as the lower of the two ratings will be your limiting factor. I have attached an installation video of the above hitch on a similar 2014 BMW X1 for you as well.
If you will be towing a trailer you will also need a wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball if you do not already have them. For a wiring harness, I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT and for a ball mount/hitch ball, the Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 will work well for you as long as the 3/4" rise and 2" drop or 2-3/4" rise and 4" drop ball mounts match your vehicle/trailer.
