Installing Bargman 7-Way With Color Coding Not Matching Trailer

Question:

I color coded the wiring the same way as the old wiring harness, which was pretty standard green to green, brown to brown, and so on. However after hooking up to my truck, almost nothing functions properly, blinkers blink improper lights completely, no trailer brake, no brake lights. Truck is a 2014 Silverado and trailer is a 2009 Royal Cargo 7x14 with trailer brake so I figure it should have been a cut and dry install. Any suggestions or is it a wire by wire until it all works properly? 54006-009 color coding Picture attached is the original hookup.

Since the standard colors do not function correctly, you will need to wire according to function. You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to determine function of your vehicle as the signal comes to your junction box. Once you know the function coming in, you can match it to the function behind the junction box. To determine that function you can simply use a battery to run the negative to the trailer frame and use a jump wire from the positive terminal to each wire to determine side and function. Be careful as if you find the ground, you will get a spark.

The 7-Way Molded Trailer End with 6' Cable - HD Blue Insulated # 54006-009 has the following color and function connections (which are not the traditional color connections):
White=Ground
Red=12V Hot Lead
Brown=Tail light/Running Light
Green=Right Turn
Blue=Backup/Reverse
Black=Brake
Yellow=Left Turn
