Recommended 7-Way Wiring and Trailer Brake Controller for 2015 Chevy Equinox
Question:
I currently have the 4 prong no cut wiring package from etrailer. Works great with our boat. I am looking to hitch a trailer with a 7 prong round that has electric brakes. What do you have for a 2015 chevrolet equinox base model that i could use to wire from front to back. I would also need a proportional brake controller for the inside. Can i use the 5 prong that you have advertised? i would prefer 7 so that i can use all the items in the trailer as made.

If you already have a 4-Way connector at the rear of your 2015 Chevy Equinox, you will just need the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything needed to convert your existing 4-Way to a fully functional 7-Way connector, along with the wiring needed to install a trailer brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.
Once you have the 7-Way installed, you are ready to install a trailer brake controller. I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885. This is an excellent, proportional controller that will activate your trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Equinox. It features an easy to read digital display and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues.
I have included the written installation instructions for this controller that you can also check out.
