The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 referenced in your question is an excellent choice. This is a great proportional controller that will activate the brakes on your trailer at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your Forester.
What you will need to install the controller will depend a bit on what you already have installed on the vehicle.
If you do not currently have any kind of trailer connector installed (4-Way or 7-Way), I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467. This custom-fit harness will install by simply connecting to the built-in ports behind the driver side trim panel. This will give you a 4-Way connector that will power a trailer's signal lights.
From there, or if you already have a 4-Way connector installed, you will need to add the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything needed to install a fully functional 7-Way connector from the existing 4-Way, along with the necessary wiring to install a brake controller. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you can look through.
This will give you everything you need to install the Prodigy P2 in your 2014 Subaru Forester. I have included a couple additional articles on brake controllers that you might also find helpful.
