Availability of Goose Box for Lippert 1116 Pin Box with 20,000 Pound Towing Capacity

Hi there, I have recently come across the Reese Goose box and am very interested in it. I am currently running a BandW companion in my 2015 RAM 3500s OEM hitch prep, it is an amazing hitch but looking for the simplicity.... and weight/space savings of a ball. My questions is this. The placard on my pin box on our 2018 montana fifth wheel says the following - Pin box model: LIPP1116 - Pin box GVRW: 19,000LBS the suggested RP94622-61301 goose box that is to fit my existing pin box location is only rated for 16,000LBS. Would I not need a goosebox that has a 20,000LB rating capacity? Our fifth wheel has a loaded weight of 14,300LBS and we also pull our 5,000LB boat behind that. thanks!

The Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP94716-61301 referenced in your question is indeed confirmed to replace your existing Lippert 1116 pin box. As you mentioned, this adapter has a gross towing capacity of 16,000 pounds. If you were to install this on your trailer, this is the new capacity you would need to follow. The total weight of what you will be towing will need to fall below this number.

Since it sounds like you will be exceeding this capacity, this may not be the best option for you. This is the highest rated Goose Box we have available for your Lippert 1116 pin box.

Your existing B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 is what I recommend sticking with because, as you also mentioned, this is a truly excellent hitch and it also provides you with the necessary capacity for your application. Keep in mind that the head on this unit can be removed by itself, allowing you to more easily remove the hitch when not in use to clear up your truck bed.
